I read this on Digg earlier today. Unfortunately, I have long since closed out the browser and can’t find the article it was linked to. I’d like to give credit to the author.

Once upon a time, there was a non-conforming sparrow who decided not to fly south for the winter. However, soon the weather turned so cold that he reluctantly started to fly south.

In a short time ice began to form on his wings and he fell to earth in a barnyard. Almost frozen, a cow passed by and crapped on the little sparrow. The sparrow thought it was the end. But, the manure warmed him and defrosted his wings. Warm and happy, able to breathe, he started to sing. Just then, a large cat came by and hearing the chirping, investigated the sounds. The cat cleared away the manure, found the chirping bird and ate him.

Morals to the Story

1. Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
2. Not everyone who gets you out of a pile of shit is your friend.
3. If you’re warm and safe, even in a pile of shit, keep your mouth shut.

AGH! I love these live performances! I so wish they’d play their stuff like this when they come through town. Apparently The Urban Lounge is very intimate. I attended a show there years ago when it was called The Holy Cow (Run DMC!)

Ed gets onto the Security Guard during Yellow Ledbetter.

Some guy was putting someone on his shoulders during the last song. Security guard starts harassing them, telling them they can’t do it. With less than a minute to go in the show, Ed tells the guard that “it’s ok…we only have a minute left…”
